This week the media went crazy as supermodel Kate Moss turned the big 4-0!
While her antics in the past may have caused controversy, one thing Kate has rarely been slated for is her dress sense: could this be as Moss is an avid vintage clothing fan who has always had her own chic, classic style? We like to think so!
As Kate already knows, choosing vintage is a guaranteed way to create an individual look with items no one else is likely to have, or to emulate style from movie stars and the like from days gone by.
Here are some of the top looks in which Kate Moss has stepped out in vintage clothing:
Ten years ago for her 30th birthday which was based upon Scott F Fitzgerald’s novel ‘The Beautiful and the Damned’, Kate dazzled in Bond girl Britt Ekland’s original 1970s sequin maxi dress.
In 2007, Kate stepped out to a gala event in a vintage Dior gown. Unlucky for her, singer and actress Courtney Love apparently stepped on her vintage couture ripping it in several places! Being the fashionista she is, Moss salvaged the gown by tying the hem in a rather fashionable bow (and then promptly left the event to spare her blushes!)
For her wedding rehearsal to musician Jamie Hince in 2011, Kate wore a vintage 1970s maxi dress with a pair of blue suede boots!
Of course, not everyone has access to a wardrobe of vintage couture like supermodel Kate’s or a bank account of considerable size either, but there are still plenty of ways to get an expensive-looking vintage look such as with a good quality pair of vintage leather boots, a sparkly 50s or 60s lurex evening bag or even a piece of sparkly costume jewellery!
