Our Philosophy – How we think and work

It is common knowledge that these days, the high street is full of mass produced, poor quality clothing, which has been neither ethically sourced nor produced. Here at Virtual Vintage Clothing, we support the idea of being green and expressing individuality by recycling past fashions in order to be worn and enjoyed again. All of our clothing and accessories are vintage originals from the 1920s to the early 1990s, not reworked items from vintage fabrics or ‘in the style of vintage’. We like to sell what we think is a perfect example of excellent quality fashion from days gone by. You can rest assured knowing that you can buy from a company that does not support the use of third world labour in the manufacture of its garments as our clothing is sourced from the UK, with many of our items having been originally made in England. Furthermore, we do not buy in bulk or import from the US and only wash our clothing in eco-friendly washing powder, thus reducing our carbon footprint and, in return, helping to save the planet!

The Quality of our Vintage Clothes, Accessories & Homeware

Although we always aim to provide you with excellent quality, one-of-a-kind items, please remember that vintage clothing and vintage accessories are at least 20 years old and may show a small degree of natural wear and age, adding to the vintage look.

This could include a bit of bobbling, scuffs and missing labels, making the story behind each piece in its previous life so unique! Please do take this into consideration when choosing to buy from Virtual Vintage Clothing.

Please see our Condition Key to see how we rate each item.

We pride ourselves on selling vintage originals and do not sell reworked vintage clothing, however occasionally there may be stitches or alterations to certain garments made by the original owner, such as shortened hemlines or a new zip.

All of our clothing is gently washed prior to sending in eco friendly non biological powder, and delicate items washed by hand.
‘Dry Clean Only’ items will only have been aired to keep costs low, enabling us to price our items as fairly as possible. Therefore you may wish to take them to a Dry Cleaners for a professional treatment to freshen them up before wear. The same applies to items which are stated as being in ‘Mint Condition’, for example, unworn clothing and accessories with original store tags still attached in order to keep the original tags intact.
Items such as bags and footwear will have been sponge cleaned to the best of our ability.

In cases such as these where the item cannot be laundered, it is not unusual to detect a common vintage musty smell due to their age, so please be aware of this.

In the unlikely case of any stains or marks being present on any of our items which need a little bit more attention, these will be noted in the item description. Please read the description where we endeavour to describe any notable flaws to the best of our ability. Please note, we may overlook minor flaws we feel insignificant to the appearance of the item as this is expected with pre-owned items.
